Q: What time is my test?

You will be told to be 1/2 hour early (9:30 am) this is so you are not late and do not risk your scheduled exam time. We recommend this as well. You can always relax, use the facilities, or pre-study. Our centers test time is uaually at 10:00 am, M - TH, and third Saturdays, unless other arraignments have been made for a special test time. If we can get you into a test earlier we will, but remember you are not scheduled to start until the test time given.

Q: What facilites are available at the test center?

Waiting room: If you are early please use our waiting room upstairs just off to the right of the elevator after letting the instructor / proctor in classroom #200 (just right of the elevator as well) that you are here. They may take you immediately or they may have you wait and call you when they are ready. They usually will give the class a short break while logging you in and getting you set in the testing room which is adjacent to our classroom.

Facilities: There are numerous restrooms in the building marked with the male/female figure. They only take one person at a time and if there is someone in there it will say occupied. You may use any of them downstairs by the elevator or anywhere upstairs. There is also a break room with water, soda, and snacks. You may use these vending machine’s, however, you may not have food or drink inside the testing room.

If you need a reader or translator, this must be cleared by the testing company.

Q: What should I bring to the test?

A:You are always required to bring picture ID, and sometimes certifications, a letter from your school or a state licensing board. Leave whatever you can in your vehicle. You are only allowed reading glasses and keys in the testing room, unless otherwise specified. You will be notified if your test allows paper, pencil, calculator, or is open book. Some tests require a special booklet that is sent to our center prior to your test. We will check in all personal items such as; handbags, PDA's - mobile phones, coats, food, and return them after your test is completed.

Q: Can I take a break during the test?

A: Some tests allow for this, just let the proctor know you are leaving and they will check you out and back in. Only ten minutes are allowed. It is best if you use the facilities prior to sitting for your test. There are a few tests that do not allow you to break or leave once your exam has started.

Q: Will I know my score or if I passed my test?

A: Some tests are scored and given to you immediately following the test at check out. Some are pass or fail and notify you at check out as well. Other tests are sent to be graded by a live person and you will receive your test scores by mail. Please contact PSI or PAN for your scores, or if you do not receive your certification timely. We only proctor the tests we do not grade, or certify you.

Q: What does a proctored test mean?

A: It means you will be checked in, have your picture ID verified against you, assigned a computer in our testing room, watched on video and spot checked during your test, and then checked out with your results going by internet to the testing center. A few tests are old school taken on paper, pencil, and fill in the bubbles.

Our testing rooms are small but allow plenty of room to comfortably take the test on a computer with large privacy shields. The door is closed during testing, but our proctor will watch on his video monitor. We are a school as well, so if you are sensitive to any noise we furnish ear plugs to everyone.

Q: What are the instructors teaching?

A: We are often teaching our Private Investigator's Master Class, but may have a number of other classes we teach. To discover all the classes that Discovery Detective Academy offers, please visit our websites, or call to ask about the courses of your interest.
