Funding: this course is eligible for funding from most city, county, state, & federal retraining and vocational rehabilitation programs, as well as the Montgomery GI bill for qualified veterans.
Placement: by law we can not guarantee job placement, but we do work with you to gain employment by giving job referrals from employers looking to employ our students, help with resumes, and with looking to target niche markets that will optimize your investigative skills with your past job history and experience.
Past jobs & training: Being an Investigator is a multi-disciplined job. Detectives perform many different tasks throughout the course of any investigation. Detectives should be knowledgeable in each discipline and the law, but each detective’s duties may require different expertise and even incorporate expertise from prior fields of work. The investigation field provides a unique opportunity where skills and expertise gained through education and / or work experience from prior employment can be incorporated with newly learned investigative skills to provide quick entry into investigative jobs in niche areas that require that knowledge.
Physical requirements & disabilities: There are very few physical requirements while conducting investigative duties. The primary abilities required are problem solving, communication, and observation skills. If an investigator is disabled or has physical limitations, they can case-direct other team members in performing those facets of an investigation allowing them to be a valuable member of an elite investigation team. Additionally, most investigative activities do not require long durations of repetitive postures or movement that typically aggravate many conditions.
Holidays: the academy is closed all legal holidays, and takes off two weeks for winter holiday and one week for spring break.
